>Become Grand Regent of Kansas City and surrounding counties such as Johnson, Wyandotte, Jackson, etc
>Immediately halt construction of new low density suburban developments. We do not need sprawl reaching out anywhere past I-435 in the north and 199th in the south; anything past that should be farms and estates
>Immediately seize 75% of surface parking within downtown and convert into either mixed use or residential high rises. Several will be turned into free parking garages subsidized by the city.
>Caps aren’t enough; simply bury I-670, 35, and 70. Put apartments and new parks in the now unoccupied space.
>Fast-track the completion of the streetcar expansion, and make plans for a new East-west line: one which goes from 18th and vine to the crossroads, then from the crossroads down Southwest Trafficway to Rosedale
>Build a new baseball stadium at 18th and vine, keeping Kaufman for minor league but shrink its parking lot. New stadium does not need a parking lot; garages underneath and nearby should be enough
>Tear up Arrowhead’s massive parking lot and replace with grass; you don’t need asphalt to tailgate
>Make the current airport cargo-only, a la Alliance in Dallas. Move some downtown-based industry to the airport’s vicinity to reduce downtown pollution. Move all passenger service to the downtown airport, and expand said airport’s runways.
>Further densify local suburban town centers and make them mixed use when not already mixed use (Overland Park, Lee’s Summit, Independence, etc)
>Finally, establish heavy rail from the city center to each of these town centers, and a loop line of sorts between town centers. Also invest in separate streetcar systems for denser and larger town centers such as Overland Park or Independence
