You'd probably need to have an electric rail system with heated rails, elevated and with good drainage to avoid ice/snow piling up and causing problems.

Real answer, the ice shifts every year, so any kind of road/rail gets destroyed within a year.

The only "roads" are the ones that are made out of ice at the beginning of every warm season and are destroyed at the end.

It's a dope place for cargo planes and container ships though.

Doesn't Antarctica have a landmass under all the ice?
Obviously it isn't worth it to develop anything there, but in theory you could anchor the rails below the ice.

The ice is over a kilometer thick in some places.
The tallest building on earth is less than a kilometer tall, and it doesn't have tons of ice trying to flow around it each year.

There would be, if people stopped being pussies and installed nuclear reactors there, and started actually trying to colonize it, instead of just keeping some research bases
It's still a retarded idea though, much better just to use planes and helicopters to go around, it's much faster and safer

You can't fly there most of the time because of ice storms. That's why roads and rail don't make sense there. Constant ice storms will cover them up before you can uncover them. Everything would have to be underground
