i think this situation can be avoided if specifically head tube and seat tube are reinforced with carbon fiber or replaced with cf or metal, it's just a case of using inappropriate material for the job

Forged carbon is proving to be the next step for the small stuff, it's easier to mass produce than traditional carbon fiber and exhibits stress more like metal than glass. Composite materials like Rein4ced are quite interesting. Carbon reinforced with steel in this case, supposedly as light as carbon but impact resistance much more like steel.

Why should i care about longevity?
I always swap my bikes every 3-5 years.
Technology moves forward and its a great feeling to get even more efficency.
And i never had problems with any carbon frame. Even my downhill carbon bikes who take a beating and crashes never showed a bit of wear.
This is pure poorfag cope.
A bike is not a tool that has to last forever.
And for that 7 out of 10 bikes i see rinding around here are carbon bikes and the rest are aluminium bikes.
Steel bikes dont carry the whole industry and go exstinct for good.

Materials is just about as good as it's going to get just due to availability and scalability. Only so much Ti in the ground, so that will always be pretty niche. I was hoping that magnesium would return but it seems like that's not likely after the failure to launch by VAAST (who are now hocking ebikes like any other chinese dropshipper).
That leaves manufacturing processes. Carbon may stay dominant, but we'll see more and more exotic shapes and infill, at least as long as that doesn't get tanked by the gay-ass race association ruining everyone's fun

It *looks* like that headtube was made of bamboo - which if it's anything like most wood has good strength along its grain where the fibres are all aligned. Going across the grain you'll see a lot of reduced strength because you're applying force across the fibres, causing them to split. The headtube seems like a poor place for bamboo assuming they're using it like that. That particular failure doesn't seem like a good reason to throw the whole concept out, just to go back to the drawing board on the headtube.

Some niche builders make wooden bikes even nowadays. I could see people using laminated wood veneers in a fashion fairly similar to carbon fibres. I remember during the pandemic seeing a GCN video on magnesium bikes. As far as I'm concerned it's anybody's guess.
