What are some American walkable cities/university towns one can reasonably afford to move to? I'm tired of needing to drive to do even the most basic shit

I live in Fairfax, Virginia. I’m walking distance to a Giant grocery, and there are multiple restaurants also walking distance. the city of Fairfax had a free bus that I can ride to the DC metro, which if I chose to walk to the metro it would only take 20 minutes to get there. From the closest metro station to downtown DC is only 25 minutes

I lived in Pittsburgh for several years without a car, public transit ain't perfect and sometimes I've had to get an uber but I'm currently in walking distance to most of what I need and even my job.
