brake shudder with these is so annoying and common

casual bikes should have long reach dual pivots and ~35mm tires. Much more idiotproof.
High spec unracers should have cantis
Mtb and grabel should have discs.

Have you seen the market for new bikes of the types you mentioned? Anything that's not kitted with 7 speed tourney has disk brakes, pretty much. And even then...
I'm guessing the economics of switching even the low tier wheels to disk brake just speaks too loudly.

They will never make a comeback when Shimano makes disc brakes that are cheaper, easier to service, and perform better.

There is no reason for manufactures to spec their low end, basic bikes with anything else

My ex had Vs with worn down pads so I offered to replaced them for her because "I'm a delivery boy, I work on my bike all the time!" After replacing the pads her brakes started shuddering and I offered to align the pads properly and she said it's ok then took it to a LBS. Fuck that stupid cunt

Its not complicated. You squeeze the brake lever and then tighten the bolt a bit. From there its not much work to adjust them. And dont pretend that disc brakes dont have plenty of maintenance to be done.

Ever heard of cartridge brake pads? So easy. On my second set so I have extra pins in case I lose one.

i copped a pair of used promax deciphers, the lowest of the low in hydros, for my commuter a long time ago and 8k km later the only maintenance i did was swap the pads around because rears were wearing slower than the fronts and fronts were on their way out.
