hey /n/ this is my cat Rupert, i got a cat basket for my bike and want to get him to sit in it whilst biking around.
so far i have got him to sit it inside my house but he gets nervous even if i start to slowly roll forward or back

does anyone have any practive or tips to help?

Use treats and take it slow. For a while it'll just be treats of he stays in the basket. Eventually you try shifting the bike with him in it for treats. So on and so forth until you are rolling the bike with him in it. He may also just jump out while you're riding so might have to figure that part out too, getting him used to a secure harness for example.

Put cat in basket, give cat treats while you walk bike. Eventually lead up to him riding in basket while you ride. If hes jumpy buy a nylon zip carrier you can put in the basket that has a mesh window

a friend tried this
she bought a cat-specific, bike-specific basket for it
took it on short rides, getting longer each time
the cat would piss itself every time she would go moderately quick or downhill
after months the cat stopped pissing itself all the time but it would never "enjoy itself"
few weeks ago she took it on their first long trip
couple of nervous days went by, eventually the cat saw an opportunity to run away, got flattened by a truck
TL;DR cats don't like being on the road, don't force it, don't fool yourself into thinking it's enjoying itself

oh that sounds terrible, i guess if he does not enjoy it after a few attempts i will stop. i have another cat who likes to go outside basically all the time so maybe i could try it with him, here he is, luke
