I bought a bike, nothing more amazing than riding to the gym, work, groceries, etc.
Worthbthe price vs gas on the long run.

A valid concern, bikes are easy to steal. In my city I'm not sure I'd risk locking up even a beater commuter bike in public, would have to be in a private lock up. Sad but it's the way things go.

I bought only two bikes new.
One I sold to buy a better used one.
Onother one was stolen since was my grocery getter and commuter city bike.
Ill never ever buy new.

It's sad but bike life = stolen bike. I buy used (probably already stonle) bikes always keeping in mind it will be stolen again sooner or later.
The bikes flow, they come and go, they don't actually belong to us.

It heavily depends on where you live, where and when you lock the bike and store them. I have never had a bike stolen in my life, but my father also taught me how to take care of my shit. Obviously it is always a gamble, but the first step is not to live in a 3rd world city.
