Is the gr yaris the closest to a full blown rally car you can buy today?

Also i get the feeling the gr corolla is not as well balanced or as rally capable as the gr yaris. Can you buy a regular yaris in america and make it into a gr yaris with aftermarket parts? Or is there a fundamental difference between the two?
