Personally I preferred being able to walk to school or to the park.
Or field trips that involved public transit, so us kids learned how it worked and how to travel on our own.
I also loved that university was just a public transit trip away from home. Saved a lot of money on living and commuting expenses.
But that's just me. Whatever floats your boat.
