is there a transit planning general?

Welp, today I made an autistic proposal for light rail in my town instead of working.

Is there a general for this kind of thing? Sorry if so, I'll post it there. I didn't think /upg/ was appropriate. I see a lot of fantasy transit maps but few ever seem to consider ROW alignment or operations planning.

The section east of the purple star is an abandoned rail line. The clearances either side are mostly too narrow to double it. I calculated that at 40 km/h average speed with 60-second stops, you could still have 18-minute headway between same-direction trains (i.e., a train passing every 9 minutes in alternating directions along either of the two single-track sections).

West of the purple star, I thought trains could split in two and have one half hold back for 9 minutes before continuing. Similarly, heading eastbound, you could have a lead train halt at the station and wait to couple to the next one behind it. This gives you 9-minute headways on the urban (north-south) section without sacrificing capacity or having to turn around trains before the interurban section.

Total route length is 18km with 11 stations and 2 end stations. Round trip from either end station is about 90 minutes. Add a 9-minute turnaround time and you get 99m. round trip time, which at 9m. headway would be filled by 11 consists (12 if you want a spare).
