There is a huge difference between single pilot (fly by yourself) and cross-country, night, and passenger qualified (about 2x-3x the time).

The real problem is upkeep? Are you going to fly at least once a month? If not, the chance of you crashing increases. I would argue at least once a week or every 2 weeks actually. Those skills fade. Then the question becomes - do you really want to go through all the upkeep to fly a rental piece of shit once a month?
Flying is cool to try, but you quickly realize it's just like all the other "cool skills" - the maintenance is way too much unless you really love it, or you are *truly* rich and like playing James Bond.
A relevant question /k/ asks is "How to be like SOF without being SOF?" and the answer is literally "there is no way" - skills fade way too fast at the edge of the bell curve.
