I always laugh at all these VTOL based startups that are just upscaling a drone and calling it a green way to move people and products around the city. Flight is only efficient at a large scale at high speeds and even then it does horrible in comparison to cargo ships and trains and even trucks.

the only way mass personal aviation could ever be a thing is if there was some sort of global system in place that prevented crashes. either something in the ships themselves that kept them from hitting each other, or some sort of central control system which orchestrated everyone's moves. since this would be impossible for humans to accomplish, some sort of AI system would have to be implemented, which of course comes with its own problems
so nah, not anytime soom.
