is public transportation still being subsidized when it's a total failure no matter where you look.
I'm faster with my car from home to work, 20 vs 30 mins.
I'm faster with my car from home to family, 55 vs 180 mins.
I'm faster with my car to the next business trip, 5:30h vs 8h.
I'm faster with my car to the next vacation trip, 6h vs 12h.
And I don't care for bus/train drivers that are currently on strike.
Why should anyone consider public transportation?

Because if everyone who took trains/buses were suddenly on the road with 1980 shitboxes held together by prayer and ductape it would increase the number of people on the road and increase traffic by extension. Giving people the choice with subsidized public transportation makes your journey significantly faster

Because you subsidize the poor either way. The other option is your tax dollars going towards welfare because the bottom 50% cant afford property taxes/vehicle upkeep. At least with subsidizing public transit it facilitates people being productive and contributing, unlike welfare.
