Microshift needs components on slightly more expensive kit, Specialized is giving them that recognition, thankfully.
With that said, Microshift stuff is now about as expensive as Shimano's lmao

I'm waiting on some AliExpress parks to do a single speed conversion on my summer bike and making my winter a 1x7, deleting two chai rings.

I got legs larger than my patience for maintenance.

So instead of making the lower tier groupsets better to close the fuckhuge gap left after more than doubling the price of the cheapest high-end ones they're dumping it all and shitting out some generic soulless crap with a stupid name to cater to ebike niggers and shops that can't keep parts in stock. I think part of what they've done is try to combat the mantra that it's 'not worth upgrading an entry level bike'
they're trying to give bike shops a slice of the custom autism upgrade pie, by making everything compatible.

I think on the road side I think its a no brainer to keep Rival around and update it when necessary as well. With MTB offerings there is more opportunity to trim but Shimano with Cues is basically playing catch up to SRAM with their interoperability. SRAM doesn't have to change the status quo as they've written the rules of the game as is. I think with the bike market cooling and macroeconomics as they are it would unwise for SRAM to dump even SX. Sure NX is perfectly fine for a less blingy bike but as soon as it becomes the new bottom of the stack it paints it in much less favorable light to the average consumer. It's all well and good to say "Great, they'll just buy GX then" but you can't just assume that.

They still sell OEM, but since they were never willing to relocate manufacturing to Taiwan (besides stuff like Tektro-manufactured brake calipers) or engage into a race to the bottom with everyone else and sell their stuff at a loss just to gain marketshare, they weren't going to be able to get much business from the biggest OEMs.

Currently they're busy with gravel stuff, updating their wheelsets (wheels are the bulk of their revenue), working on next-gen electronic SR and electronic Ekar, power meters, e-biking hubs, etc.

I had a shitty shimano groupset on my 2005 mountain bike, it gave me such a bad impression I only use single speed or internal hubs now.

I think in the current year there should be bulletproof groupsets dirt cheap, we're only dealing with human power outputs

Interval training where it was low gear for 90 seconds then highest gear as fast as I can for 60 seconds in a cycle for about half an hour. Did get a couple years out of it that way but it definitely fucked it and I think the bottom bracket too

the internal coating gums up and the plastic sleeve will deteriorate over time too.
