I've once tried to teach a friend to ride a bike when we were like 12. We were doing great but then I tried to teach her to jump a small kerb, first by demonstrating.
She deadass approached it like a landing plane would approach a runway and landed on her hip, bruising it pretty bad. Upon asking she said "I was afraid to do it at speed."
