The fife circle goes from Edinburgh to Glenrothes by one side and then back by the other side. It currently says "Glenrothes via Dunfermline" or Glenrothes via Kirkcaldy" depending on which side it goes up.
It would be really clunky to say "Edinburgh to Edinburgh via Dunfermline, Glenrothes, and Kirkcaldy" so I think that the current system is probably best.
Although some trains don't complete the full circle, so it can be difficult to know which ones fully loop round (for example, if you want to go from Kirkcaldy to Dunfermline, you need to get on a looping train, and the best way to check this is to have an arrivals/departures board for Glenrothes, and if there is an arrival from Edinburgh via Kirkcaldy and a departure to Edinburgh via Dunfermline right next to each other, it is a loop train, but this is too complicated to check for most folks)
Might be best to have a loop icon to indicate the same train goes right round the circle and back.
It is the exact same on the cathcart circle line from Glasgow, although it is even more complicated, with numerous routes not circling back and going onwards to Newton or Neilston
