My gf and I want to do an overnight train trip. We've both been on Amtrak sleeper class before though so we're in the mood for something a little more luxurious or at least different, what are our options? Going all the way up to Canada to ride one of VIA Rail's trains is kinda out of the question due to price/passport issues and we were wondering if there as an alternative in the US. I know there used to be Pullman Rail Journeys but my understanding is that they went under after Iowa Pacific went bankrupt.

We live in Los Angeles so something based out of Union Station would definitely be the best option but we're willing to consider traveling out to one too.
