Cheap Electric Bicycle.
Poor fag walker here, need a cheap electric bicycle that I can use to commute through a mountainous area.
I want a bicycle that wont give me hemorrhoids btw and that wont fuck up my back. I'm 6' 3".
Speed and battery life are a plus. Are lights sold separately? Should I assemble one myself or don't bother? I don't have a bicycle on hand.

The most basic advice is the same really for both. Good bikes are 8, 9, 10+ speed, not 7 speed. If you can't afford that then you can't afford an e-bike. What you'll get with a very cheap 7spd bike is something which will be unreliable and cost you money when things fail. The brakes especially will be terrible.

Also, if you get 'comfort' things like a step-through frame or a suspension fork (or an electric motor), the bike will be significantly heavier. On low-end e bikes this can be the line between being able to lift it up stairs or not. Comfort is mostly about running nice wider tires and most bikes can be modified to have upright positions and you can change the saddle.

good e-bike kit, bafang bbs02b is about 700-$1000 depending on the battery
add another $200-300 to get a decent used bike to put it on, and another ~$200 for new consumables like tires, chain, cables and racks. $1500 budget should get you something good.

Decent e-bike from a shop is $2500 +

I have an Aventon Aventure but I don't know how confident I am to ride it very far. The beach is only a few miles away from me, there's a non-highway route I could take, but I just don't trust cars. Would it be possible for you to take the bus into the city and then using the bike there?

As for ebikes, 500W seems fine, but yeah if the mountains are wack you're going to need more power. California has a limit of 750 watts, but I can still hit 30mph and about low 20s on hills.

buy a regular ol mountainbike and slap a tongshen mid drive and a not aliexpress battery (they explody) chinese motors are greta though
id recommend a mid drive because you can get alot more performance for less money especially when it comes to climbing mountains
