>>1907035Depends on the circumstances, the hardware the big jets is very 1980s, full autolands require dedicated radio beams being broadcast from the ground to fly down and also that the autopilot can handle it (which mostly it can once it has a reference point for where it is)
The "AI", if you can call it that, used is very limited and is very much being told what to do and babysat by the pilots pretty much all the time, and also the pilots will do things like set flaps, gear, pull the throttles back on touchdown, program the planned flight path into the computer in the first place and so on, as well as taking over if they don't like what it's doing. Still very effective, but the human not being an idiot is still fairly important. If you want to see what a full autoland looks like, watch a couple landings in some of the nicer flight simulators, like here
