>>1902584>State's hipster-bait is overpriced compared to the used OTS>>1902520>just overpriced hipster-baityou guys are retarded, have you not noticed how expensive everything new is? Not just bikes.
state is bottom dollar, the margins on them would be tiny.
The only way they could be a good deal compared to a used 80s/90s road bike is if they were priced for less than they cost to produce/distribute. That's not what 'overpriced' means. 'Overpriced' means something with excess profit.
Compare to Linus or Wabi or Bikesdirect.
>>1902605No. The parts are all newly manufactured chinkshit. You think microshift existed in 1985? And faux-vintage isn't for proper nerds it's for people who kind of like the style but want something off the shelf. I'd be curious to know where the people who bought those bikes went next, if they upgraded to an actual classic road bike or abandoned cycling or went back to a hybrid or became roadies or what.
>>1902610agree. Faux-vintage with a quill stem is absolutely disgusting unless it's a cruiser. Most noobs can't into front shifting. It's slightly dissapointing though because easy front shifting is a major advantage of downtube shifters, and most people who stick with riding will end up wanting wider range. I think it's mostly a cost measure.
