Why can't kei cars be the answer?

*Before some mod calls my post off-topic and supposed to be on /o/, this discussion is directed towards city planning/alternative transportation, not just general car shitposting.*

OK, so, how about instead of slow-ass sweaty-ass bicycles and stuffed-up-against-shit-stained-homeless public transit, why don't we shift to ultra small cars to handle increasing urban density? Most of the gripes of cars from public transit advocates are fuel economy/emissions, the amount of space taken, and danger to pedestrians, so why not kei cars that are super fuel efficient with low emissions, take up the space of like two motorcycles on the road or when parked, and are more maneuverable and carry less mass than a large car or truck so hypothetically should be less dangerous to pedestrians?

With kei cars, you aren't making car drivers give up their cars and ability to travel on their own schedule without being limited to 25 mph tops, but you also aren't turning cities into 50% parking lot because you can cram double if not triple the amount of cars into a kei parking lot as you can a normal lot. You can seat and transport 4 adults or easily do a grocery run with the seats folded down (on the box-style ones at least).

Why doesn't anyone proposing more efficient transportation ever take the kei car pill? They're the real answer and Japan has proven how good they are in a dense city environment.

inb4 "muh Japanese bullet train", America will never be dense enough for a high speed rail system to make sense. So what if you can go LA to SF on a train, WTF will you do when you get there with no decent transit to get around once you're there? On the flip side, a kei car can easily drive at 70 mph on the highway, even the slow ones.
