What Fire Engine?

No.1907711 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Wasn't sure where else to post this.

Anyone know what specific fire engine this ubiquitous U.S.A. sign is based on?

In my experience most things like this weren't made up but were actually based on a real life thing. For instance the Monopoly Battleship is actually a re-imagining of a game token made for an earlier Parker Brothers game about the Spanish American War and the token was made in the likeness of USS Iowa BB-4. The weird crane thing on the back of the Monopoly Battleship is actually supposed to represent USS Iowa's huge boat davits which were pointed backwards during her sea trials, from which a lot of photographs exist.

So my guess is this sign is supposed to depict an actual fire engine. From the 1920s? 1930s? I'd love to see a picture of one. I've been seeing this sign my whole entire life and I've always wondered what specific fire engine this was supposed to be.
