I had one of these too. Am fit, healthy and ride downhill mtb. Hit a pothole at 20 mph. Lost 4 teeth, snapped my lower jaw clean in two, and a skull fracture for good measure. These things are fucking lethal.

And I consider myself lucky. I very nearly died that night. The brain damage reversed over 6 months and I regained full function again. Employer paid me in full, wife helped with rehabilitation. I look normal now and have a new outlook on life. Oh, and I always wear a full face helmet for EVERYTHING!

Yes, wear one of those. Wearing a helmet like that while riding an electric scooter would not look gay at all. I also think you should wear knee and elbow pads. Consider a fur tail, too.

I bought one of these recently, been using it to ride to work. It's more fun than driving, a little sketchy at top speed (no steering damper) but otherwise it seems capable and well built. Only problem I've had is a flat tire from a pinch flat, but replaced the stock tube with a thicker one fixed it.

Just got a new 45mph scooter. Blazing down the streets, weaving inbetween traffic, blasting Free Bird and other 80s rock on a massive speaker i taped to the underside of the deck. I wear a full face helmet and armored jacket.

A full face helmet is a must on escooters. You will almost always get launched straight forward in crashes involving those. Broken jaws and lost teeth are pretty common because people think those roadie helmets or skateboarding ones are enough and find out the hard way even if it's only 15mph.

Have any of you experienced butthurt car drivers going ahead of you and blasting their exhaust fumes? Just happened to me, it's rare, but not the first time. I'm considering carrying some spark plug ceramic shards with me for the future. For context, I follow the traffic rules as a cyclist, wouldn't use them if I was in the wrong.
