>>1912412Tell me about it.
A week ago I rode my bike downtown to meet up with a friend.
On the way down, there's a solid 5 km stretch where I blow past cars on the same street trapped in gridlock.
Connect with friend, we bike down to the lake shore. A few of those streets are one-way to cars, but bi-directional to bikes because ain't no problem sharing a lane for us.
Comfy ride hugging the shoreline. Can ride right up next to the beach, get the cool air flowing off the lake.
Visit island that isn't accessible to cars. Tons of neat public art on exhibition.
There's a breakwater that extends out into the lake. It's a little uncomfortably long to walk out on, but a bike is perfect for just rolling up to the end as a short little detour. Take a panorama of the view on all sides.
Stop for takeout and pick up some desserts Don't need to fuck around with parking, one person watches the bikes while other goes in to order.
Chill at friend's place. My bike is folding, so just take it straight into the building and leave in the apartment door.
Bike home after dark. Quiet ride through subdivisions, not a car in sight.
60 km on the odometer, all of it comfy riding at laid back pace. And had time to rest in between legs.
