And if that's not enough, build additional lanes above the existing ones. Just have skyscrapers - but they're just hundreds of stories high of traffic lanes. Road rage will have to be legalized as well, so that when the drivers around you get on your nerves, you can get out and fight them - or if you're an American, you can pull out a machine gun and start blasting entire families.

2 lanes is vulnerable to retards hogging the left lane

3 lanes is ok except in heavy traffic or when semis decide to go three-wide

Really though, the more the better until there's so many that no one's even using them. Even then though it's just futureproofing.
