>>1925092>Everest's whole thing is being the tallest mountain that only a few extremely skilled (or lucky) mountain climbers have ever been to the top of.Bro what rock have you been living under?
Going to the top of Everest is like visiting The Leaning Tower of Pizza or the Pyramids. Anyone can do it if they have 20'000 dollars. Hundreds of climbers ascend it each year, usually between 600-800. You don't need skill anymore. You pay your share to join an "expedition" with a tourist travel company who take care of all the logistics, equipment and sherpas.
All the climber has to do is acclimatize themselves by hiking up, chilling out at a luxurious base camp, climb some more, chill out at the next camp etc. Then they make a dash for the top, take some selfies and pictures then leave so the next group of rich assholes can take some selfies.
Yeah you can still die but this isn't the 20th century anymore when you had people like Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary and other original explorers going up into the unknown. It's just a corny tourist attraction now. Technology and logistics turned it into a cakewalk. Real mountaineers avoid it because there are thousands of people all over it each season. They are more interested in climbing more challenging peaks like Annapurna, K2, Makalu and so on.
