>>1929917>subways only handle one of thosesays who? other than a government regulator, what is stopping UPS or Amazon from developing light freight cars for moving stuff around in subway systems?
Didn't the treasury used to move cash and gold through subways as freight? And certain buildings always had private subway tunnel connections: Waldorf Astoria, WTC had a subway station connected to the building, MSG has a subway station, etc, I'm sure the feds have some buildings with subway connections as well as utilities and telecom companies, why can't Amazon apply for a building permit to have a warehouse and build some freight elevators to their own private subway freight terminal under Manhattan?
I could easily come up with a big picture scheme to move amazon packages into an urban distribution center or closer to their final destination for delivery. You could build a subway car that carries wrapped pallets or IBC totes or whatever, just smaller than a regular train car. You could even build a subway car that carries those delivery truck style e-bikes and it could just unload any truck-bike at any subway station and use elevators to get back to surface level.
Any of the things that UPS or FedEx or whoever have developed like
>huge blimps with delivery drones at sports and concert stadiums>delivery trucks with drones on the roof so that they can cover more ground per truckor whatever else they come up with and patent, all of that is doable with subway cars instead of trucks or drones
