All of the shilling for these types of bikes is getting a bit annoying and at this point I have to say that they are actually overrated unless you live in a flat city and only need to ride short distances.
Reasons why I don't like them or need them:
>I live in a hilly area, so I need gears and ideally a bike with low weight>I like speed and efficiency since I live outside my nearby city so my commutes aren't that short>I like learning about it and working on my bike so it needing some maintenance isn't a big dealDon't really see the point in getting one of these over a decent hybrid bike or if you like a more aggressive riding position a endurance road bike or gravel bike.
