Their takes are often totally disconnected from reality and lie way outside the overton window, and so you have a whole generation of young, future civil servants that are in for a really rude awakening when they try to implement the stuff they hear on the internet echo chamber and all of their neighbors shun them.
More importantly, most of these people don't vote or attend planning commission hearings. They are the ultimate backseat drivers. Attending and commenting at public hearings would immediately humble these ass clowns, and they would quickly realize that you need to listen and earnestly seek input from the community when it comes to local land use policy, and that sitting behind a screen and preaching to a legion of internet-addicted yes-men is not at all helpful.
