For a main thorough-fair in the city that's not a lot of cars. Why? Because they have public transportation, taking cars off the road, which makes car traffic better. Public transport benefits carbrains and normal people.

The city of Hamburg, Germany has probably the best public transport network in Germany and still every road in the city is clogged with cars every single day, as well as 10+ km on the local A1 and A7 every day even (or rather, especially) weekends.

You realize the urbanist argument against American cities is regarding the horrible land usage that cars demand to be successful, and not their efficiency after a country has destroyed itself to make room for them right?

No one gives a fuck that it takes 5min less to commute when the most interesting thing to do in your city is to go walk around Walmart.

Hey dipshit idk how else to break it to you but we built the highway interchanges literally in the middle of our cities. I've lived in 5 different states all in different parts of the country. Everywhere in the suburbs that isn't literally protected by a historical society either looks like this, or is moving towards looking like this. Pretending that they don't is pure cope.

In 2017 Netherlands had more passenger kilometres in public transport and cycling than in cars.
Including trains then public transport has 50% more passenger kilometres than cars
I remember a time when America saw problems as things to solve, not as things to cope about

It's because my country creates excuses than to solve complex issues. Obviously in America here Gen X and below on generations do not like riding cars, do not want to live in a Car Centrist lifestyle and drive a lot less than Baby Boomers who love car do. There is a reason why places like New York and Chicago are always in high demand and command huge prices because there is so much demand for that lifestyle and not enough supply. Sadly Baby Boomers as a population dislike it because they believe public transit = Crime always. When it's just some bad areas like all places that are run down or need better leadership with discipline. Funny thing is all things can be solved by building a train, densify areas around it for people and dedicate money towards mass transit through gas tax. It's obvious that is what it requires, but it looks like it will be 5-10 cities before the rest follows suit.
