Hambini sells a product (bb shell) that takes all of an hour in CAD to design and then the manufacture (CNC lathe, anodizing) is extremely cheap and easy work in a cheap material (alum). He then goes on to sell them for 300+ bucks. Which he should, since it's a great niche area to make a good product in and 300 bucks is a good chunk of change, but people will pay that since all these BB solutions are around there.
The AbsoluteBlack cage is extremely expensive, and the advantage of such a cage is very miniscule, but it is still legit watt savings, even if it is 1-3 watts.
That cage is also EXTREMELY expensive to manufacture for what it is, there is absolutely no way, the profit of margin on that 700 dollar cage made of a whole different span of manufacturing methods, different components, assembly time, and far, far more design and engineering is anywhere close to the profit margin Hambini makes on a a chunk of aluminum that has some bearing races/seats/ and a bore machined in and then the thing is dipped for anodizing.
How worth 1-3 watts is, is up to the person buying it, if they are the type of person to drop that cash for a really small return...the sort of thing Hambini did seemed sort of slander-ish.
Also, what happens if they find out who did this stupid stalking, and it wasn't anyone associated with Absoluteblack? Would Hambini be up for a lawsuit? Seems so fucking dumb to put this on social media.
