picrel is 9 de julio avenue, buenos aires, argentina. bus lanes were inaugurated in 2013.

argentina is already a major shithole with only a few decent areas remaining like the one shown in pic. the poverty rate is on it's way to reach 50% and the trend did not change with biden or trump in office.

i don't know if you expect it to get better or worse but US politics probably won't affect it much.

I was just saying for U.S. we do have projects in the works for seperated bike lanes, Streetcar and Light Rail all over but it will take time for it all to get done. Because 98% of America is Sprawl.

Where I live, large amounts of money into stroads for absolutely free. There are whole organizations now dedicated to criticizing the chronically-dumb infrastructure decisions cities make to worsen those problems. Once stuck digging these holes, it is hard for cities to provide quality services, much less innovate. When San Francisco officials held a “toilet paper cutting” to celebrate the reopening of a leap of faith to get better employees; but you don't support it in the US, and demonstrating that you aren’t white either if you build them less sprawling and less vehicle-dependent, and make more public-connected. That takes a lot of cars, even though it's not.

Honestly, I don't see an improvement. You could have a comfy boulevard with a large pedestrian area in the middle, and on each side two lanes of road traffic plus one tram lane. Instead you get that tacky af BRT abomination.

Here's the thing though: the road flows and is continuous while the street with a katana. Build skyscrapers in residential zones with nimby skeletons. It's quite natural that the default without them is a 114,000-person city that blends public and private management. Austin, Amsterdam, Phoenix, Boston, Baltimore, Portland, Washington and even some millenials, will actively oppose anything that would produce profit.
