So despite the greater likelihood of dying in car than in a plane, at least the experience of dying in car crash is not expected to be as bad - I mean you can go through an absolutely terrifying experience in a plane and live.
And yet I've gotten back into skiing regardless. I prefer chairlifts that don't run too high off the ground but enclosed vehicles can provide a greater sense of security even if its purely imagined. It boggles my mind there are people who ride without the bar entirely on chairs. Going beyond that I was shocked when I discovered the lift on Steamboat that has no bar at all.
The Swiss really have it figured out with the underground trains.
