Do any of you have it? Are there any reputable companies out in the United States that cover theft during international travel?

I live in a 98% white area so I'm not worried about bike theft, but I would like something for when I travel. Can I only have the policy when traveling and keep canceling/reactivating it as needed or will insurance companies ban me for that?

You should buy toys you can afford to replace. If you need insurance due to fears of bike theft in your home, you bought a bike you can't afford, and your deductible is set way too low because you are broke and cannot manage your personal finances like a responsible adult.

The kinds of insurance coverage you get for traveling or shipping expensive stuff that might break and cost more than the default limits doesn't "cancel and reactivate as needed" because it is designed to cover a specified trip, or a shipment from point a to point b, rather than any blanket losses that may occur over a whole binder full of possible scenarios.

Anyway, you won't ever own property, but did you know renter's insurance exists? Yes even broke losers like you can cover your ass against the apartment complex burning down .

The problem with that is I haven't found a cheap beater bike that's good for international and domestic flights and can be taken on buses or trains. You gotta pay big bucks to get something that can do all of those.

If this is true, which it clearly is NOT (nobody has 127k sitting in the bank getting no interest) youd just pop 27k in a high yield savings account and the $1300 a year it generates is your self-insurance from theft.

If you did that you could buy an Orbea Orca (2200 on discount) every 2 years and donate your old bike to charity.

See how dumb small item insurance is?

For us normies not like you with 127k in the bank (lol) a solution would be to put $100 a month in a bike fund rather than spend $15 a month on insurance on a depreciating asset.

That would also allow you to buy a new Orbea Orca every 2 years.

Your financial ineptitude is showing. I could get that $1300 a year interest (1% lol, is that what you're getting?), plus pay $8/mo ($96/year) for bicycle Insurance. If I travel outside of my 98% white town, my bike is going to get stolen more than once every 13 years so insurance is a better bet. I have a very niche bike that hardly depreciates in value.

Don't start talking shit and making assumptions when you have the financial wits of a teenage girl.

No 5.5% after fees on your 27k placed in a regular high yield savings account.

Since you're an expert clearly you've answered your own question. Im sure theyll pay out the claim and also not screw you on the value of your (now boutique, non depreciating) bike for a $9.00 policy.

I literally had an insurance license. The answer is that you add it to your home insurance as a rider. You'll pay more but theyll pay out. You are still better off not insuring a sub 5000 usd depreciating asset.
