>>1949357well i cant really relate as ive been driving for years and before i was driving i was also scared of roads
id completely pull over and stop if a car was coming like the cuck i am
driving helped massively because i know what the world looks like from the pov of a car so i know where not to be on the road
my gf is in the same situation she doesnt drive so to her the idea of cycling on the road is terrifying
i think maybe taking driving lessons and getting a licence might be worth it even if you dont intend to drive a car
lots of people do just start riding on the road and become confident cyclists without ever having driven a car though so its possible
you just gotta start doing it
find quiet roads and get riding i guess
youl get used to it
drivers are as terrified of hittinf you as you are of them
well almost
listen carefully for the sound of a car coming up behind you and either give them room to go past or deliberately dont because this wouldnt be a safe place for them to overtake
carrying momentum is important too
when your slow youre unmanueverable and vulnreble so try to only brake when you need to as it takes a long time and alot of effort to regain that speed
what might help is finding a cyclist whose already confident on the road to ride with you
follow behind them and position yourself where they do and youl be safe and can build up that confidence
>>1949366he probably doesnt need a "good" road bike any bike will do
a cheap old shitbox mtb is still great for road riding
>>1949399>turn your wheel to point at a car's rear bumper (doesn't work for head-on but otherwise) then they won't be able to hit you.i dont rly get what this is supposed to mean
