the problem are nodes and parking spaces. it's very peculiar to me that retarded lefties all took to the idea that more lanes are bad or some shit because of induced demand.
it's basic graph theory, you can have an arch with great capacity for flux, but if it's bottlenecked by the node that it leads into or by its next succesor arches then it will congest. I guess that in some cases more lanes aren't the solution, but if the number of lanes and parking spaces were increased then traffic would logically go down.

it appears that in that particular example the problem was in fact the capacity of the highway, if the data is accurate, and not just bullshit to justify spending in the middle of an economic downturn

If you build parking spots and sufficiently wide roads for everyone to be able to drive, your city's surface area will almost entirely consist of parking spaces and roads
There is an upper bound on how densely populated a car-dependent city can be without becoming a traffic hellscape
Most large cities on earth are above that threshold, so they are either dealing with constant traffic jams or they have decent transit options

And even the hard-headded low-density sprawling US cities that insist on being car dependent run into severe problems with infrastructure maintenance costs and insanely long travel times to get anywhere

So no, "more parking spaces" is the exact opposite of a solution, don't be a retard

Fake news.
There are only so many people. Public transit advocates want to pretend they carry main load and transportation collapses without pb. When in reality car is already 90% and pb is just drop in the bucket.
Adding one more lane literally solves the problem.
