how feasible is it to send myself in the post to another country? what checks do you have to get through / how would you avoid your package getting searched?

Lead is a controlled substance, thus permit cost would be astronomical and possibly not allowed to be sent via mail. Provided they would even accept a shipment weighing in several tons and if they did, they would certainly take a peek inside.
