>>1960610Yes, this is my dad's old bike that was in storage for many years. Dad wanted to start road cycling again, so he bought a new bike that turned out to not fit him at all. As a gift for his birthday, I decided to rebuild his old bike for him with parts that would be sized correctly, since even the new bike's frame is too big.
Before this, I installed 165mm cranks on the bike and dad said they felt noticeably better than 170mm cranks that were on his new bike.
Then I looked up some formulas and other people's experiences and came to the conclusion that 152mm cranks should fit just right. Turns out they really do.
Next year we will ride plenty, hopefully even ride several randos or a multi day tour. Skiing season is coming soon, so we won't be wasting time this winter either ;)
Best of luck with your upgrades.
Also, I have some advice: for best comfort, your handlebar width should match the width between the centers of your shoulder joints. 380mm bars improved my comfort beyond any expectations, changing stem length and saddle setback was nowhere near as dramatic.
Also, compact drop bars feel very good, don't hesitate to give them a try.
