on my 100psi shwalbe marathons i feel every tiny bump and the grain of the road the gravel it all slows me down i have to be very picky about my lines
i have to slow down for potholes if i cant hop or swerve
cornering with hard skinny tyres on anything but smooth dry tarmac is scary as shit and i end up having to brake more for turns
>inb4 skill issuemaybe im not rly a roadie so im still learning how to corner on the road on tires like this
regardless i am slower
my gfs 1.95 conti double fighters at 60ps are faster
they roll smoothely over all that shit and i can corner muuuuch more confidently so i dont need to brake when theres a bit of gravel mud or wet in a corner
i think outside of aerodynamics and perfect tarmac thinner and harder is slower, much slower
plus on the wider softer tyres i can take shortcuts over rougher terrain that i just cant do on the marathons
