My country doesn't have a single railway, passenger or freight, even though it has a god-given route along a river valley directly from a major port to the capital city.
The Motagua River valley route cuts right through mountainous terrain directly up to the capital from Puerto Barrios. It's quite fucked because we desperately need rail freight to get dangerous semitrucks off our roads, they're quite narrow and treacherous and you always see accidents. An American businessman tried to get the infrastructure up and running but the government didn't want to put in any money

Do you have any interest in a specific nation's railway? I think Nairobi-Mombasa is pretty cool
