>>1966491>>A week in and I have good news and bad news. First bad news is the rolling resistance is higher than with any of my previous tires (Schwalbe G-One Allround, then Schwalbe Marathon). Second bad news is I got a flat today riding up a lowered curb diagonally (ironically in the same spot I've gotten a flat with the G-One Allround before, never had any flats with the Marathon). This leads me straight to my good news because these things are so stiff you can still sorta ride them with a flat as if you were merely really low on air, not completely out of it. And the other good news and the reason I even got the Stargrip - the grip in bad conditions is incredible. I consider snowy cobbles basically the final boss of commuting, short of actually going on a frozen lake, and these tires handle it all admirably, including icy ruts and freezing rain, if you exhibit even the slightest degree of caution. I'll have to keep an eye on the flats situation though, didn't expect a tire with built-in protection and this much rigidity to get a flat this early and this easily just riding up a curb.Anon, check your damn rim strips. Buy some tubeless tape if you still use ordinary rim strips.
Get some good tubes, Maxxis, Schwalbe or Continental.
I had horrible cst tires, kenda tubes and rim strips on my bike from factory, got pinch flats on both wheels on the first ride. Switched to tubeless tape, Maxxis ultralight tubes and conti ultrasport 3 tires and haven't had a single pinch flat since then - that's three years, and I ride horrible roads constantly.
You should also check SRAM's tire pressure calculator, you're probably running your pressures too low
