Why can't they make a modern cruise ship with an interior like the Titanic?

You could use faux wood paneling and have fire-resistant materials underneath.

Dear GOD/GODS and/or anyone else who can HELP ME (e.g. TIME TRAVELERS or MEMBERS OF SUPER-INTELLIGENT ALIEN CIVILIZATIONS): The next time I wake up, please change my physical form to that of FINN MCMILLAN formerly of SOUTH NEW BRIGHTON at 8 YEARS OLD and keep it that way FOREVER. I am so sick of this chubby Asian man body! Thank you! - CHAUL JHIN KIM (a.k.a. A DESPERATE SOUL)

The Victorian and Edwardian era ships were pretty small (and even smaller if you take away the third class quarters) so it shouldn't be too difficult to recreate the elusive "floating palace" experience on a modern megaship. You could make some of the cabins Edwardian-like and have a special dining room decorated like the Titanic with the fancy 11-course banquets for an extra cost. That way, those who want to experience something like the Titanic can still experience it instead of building a new ship that tries to conform to modern SOLAS requirements and market demands while trying to maintain an Edwardian exterior. Those who want the modern experience (e.g. waterslides, go-kart courses, rock climbing walls, casinos, cheap buffets) can have theirs too. It would be the best of both worlds.
