I hate when people complain that the MBTA is failing because it can't manage its money. Thoughts on where funding for public transit aside, the MBTA is in a terrible position because the Big Dig project was fraught with embezzlement and passed off its debts onto the MBTA which forced the MBTA to not prioritize preventative and proactive steps it could take to improve and maintain its infrastructure before getting to the point of failure.
