>>1968740The section between the Vine and the Walt Wit is fine, it doesn't need anything. For everything else, it's exit configuration on roads on all sides of it.
>Step 1. Quadruple deck itLocal traffic westbound gets the whole current alignment, 3 lanes with long entrances and a 70 MPH limit.
Local traffic eastbound on the third level, 70 MPH limit
2nd and 4th levels are express traffic, only exiting at the KOP clusterfuck, the Blue route, route 1, and the Vine. 90 MPH limit, 70 MPH minimum, trucks right lane only
>Step 2. 3 lanes at all times for travel, a 4th comes in and out for exits. All exits right hand side.Commercial vehicles not allowed in the furthest left lane at all.
>Step 3. Make the Vine triple decked, local traffic can exit as today, express goes right onto and off of the Benjamin Franklin.Local traffic on the Vine is forced to either exit or ride to I-95
>Step 4. Extend the railroad back to both West Chester and Pottstown along the right of way that's been there since 1900.Do express trains from huge-ass parking lots for the regular commuters.
>Step 5. Kill off SEPTA key, go back to tickets and tokens that actually work.Lower the cost and trouble to use Regional Rail, so that anybody who can avoid the drive in does.
That's a lot, which is kind of the point. The Schuylkill is bad because the suburbs and Philadelphia hate each other, as they well should. Getting cars off of it means the rich neighborhoods west of the city will have their property values affected because transit will need to be built. Building it big enough to absorb every fuck commuting to Jersey and downtown now that COVID is forgotten will need arseloads of money.
