mtb people aren't really cyclists, they're just cageoids who load their boing boing toy onto their SUV once or twice a year during what they call "bike season" (lol) so they can take it up the ski lift and then coast down the hill while dressed in the smash mouth outfit and drinking gross energy drinks

Most soil damage is caused by powered vehicles and horses

The homeless are damaging the environment in this case. Found a bunch of new trails near the old one.
They led to homeless encampments, so I bailed.
The old trail has been there for at least 15 years and the horses use it too.

I ride the roads too, all for my mental and physical health.
I used to care more about the environment, but the last decade of extremism I see has burnt it out of me.

MTB people are cagers that do recreational riding. Because they do not want to be mistaken for a cyclist they choose to first travel to remote locations by means of murdercage, then ride while avoiding the transportation part (no destination, no need to go somewhere, etc.) and transport the BSO back home by means of murdercage.
The other reason why they do this is because this naturally results in a state of amateurish bike handling and fitness and their inferiority complex (cagers, remember) doesn't like getting blasted by commuters all day.
