>>1978334Finally got in a ride since the rains stopped. Had to raise the seat a mm or two and lower the angle a tiny bit more. Everything worked good and I passed two elderly people this time. First real time on a friction+freewheel bike and it was enjoyable, especially with the mtb style levers on the flat bar. Freewheel was nice and quiet and with a 14-28 range I had plenty of climbing gear. Seat was for another project but works alright in this application. Enjoyed the 175mm road cranks. Most of the road bikes I have ridden have 170 so this was a nice change. Had to watch out when standing to not sway the bike too much. Front brake pads seem to touch the wheel when I push to hard, but there are plenty of other stiff bikes I can ride.
I found this paint job is good at hiding my poor skills and dirt, which is pretty awesome. Dad said it came in the classic champagne color, which he didn't like and neither do I. Next project I am not leaving the frame upside down to paint.
Originally was a 79-81 benotto 1500.
Plan to ride this most of this week to get a better assessment.
I have another project I picked up, and will be posting about it in this thread.
Hint is 90% of the stickers fell off, and it's a well known issue for this brand. Oh, and it's steel.
TL:DR
had a nice ride and I am building more bikes for fun.
>>1978365Yeah it's fun going on a descent in top gear and pedalling hard in the aero tuck. I am a fan so far.
