Men are going to be simply better pilots because they're just more passionate about it, they will dedicate the time to learn everything about flying, because it's not just a job, but a dream for many.
Women in general do not make good pilots because they would see it the same way driving is seen, it's a way to get around. Women don't care about car racing, or engines, or any of the technical aspects, they simply want to get to their destination. Women can be taught to proficiency, but the passion of flying will never be there, and hence they will never match the quality of male candidates.
Imagine if we encouraged straight men to do interior design and set quotas for how many could get careers in it. You are not attracting the passionate, only the task doers looking to have a stable job that pays well. These are the most dangerous candidates to have when it comes to complex jobs.
