Perhaps I should have specified "an average cyclist level of fitness" but I thought that was understood. If you're a commuter, that implies that you commute, that implies riding that route as a matter of routine. Just doing it is enough. First couple weeks will be tough. Then your noob gains conclude and you're fine. Then over a few more months it feels routine, wa la. No power meters, no masks, as a certain washed up weeb likes to say, "just ride".
