A vegan would be using less, and that Indian is most likely vegan so yeah it is a greener alternative if you don't mind sweating your ass off in the Indian heat. Another point in favor of cycling is that agriculture (including animal products) is mostly carbin neutral, as in the carbon that cows burp out didn't come from the underground, it came from the atmosphere.
