There's nothing wrong with using the bike lane in this situation unless the bike lanes do not continue past the intersection (and even then, he's in the road lane sooner than he needs to be), and if bicyclists aren't going to use them, it's a waste of city budgets and tax dollars to build them: unlike roads, which are supposed to be shared, bike lanes are supposed to be exclusive to cyclists. If they aren't even going to use their exclusive infrastructure, they need to fuck off.
